How many types of flowers do you grow?

I thought I would answer a question. People often ask me, “How many types of flowers do you grow?” Well, today I took some time to count everything. We grow around 54 different crops, and within those, there are about 135 cultivars or varieties on about an acre! For instance, with the crop Celosia, we grow 10 different varieties (most of the other crops have a smaller number of varieties).

At first, that number felt a bit overwhelming, and I thought maybe we should cut down on some. But then I took a deeper look, keeping in mind the different successions and categories of our crops. These are grouped into overwintering, cool season, warm season, fall, and perennials. While there's some overlap among these groups, it still narrows down to about 11 crops per category.

I’m not sure if you wanted all that detail, probably not, but there it is! I can’t wait to get back to harvesting those beautiful blooms. Soon enough! Spring is coming!
